This conference explores one of the enduring questions of Christian political theology: how should the authority of the church and the civil magistrate relate to one another under the lordship of Christ?

From Constantine and the Council of Nicaea, through the Reformation and into modern Canada, we will consider how Christians have wrestled with the proper limits and responsibilities of both church and state. What authority has Christ given to the civil magistrate? What belongs uniquely to the church? What happens when the state protects the church, seeks to control it, or claims to be religiously neutral?

Reformed pastors and educators will present three historical case studies, considering the lessons to be learned from our fathers in the faith.
